Why is your RIS system so important for the Receptionist?
Standard RIS systems are designed to retrieve patient data from the HIS which is used in most cases only as a scheduling system, rather than a data capture system. In reality, most data capture in South African practices, is done by the Receptionist. This includes the capture of documents pertaining to the patient from clinical through to medical aid claims and billing information. A system that does not allow full data capture or correct scanning facilities, puts enormous strain on this resource.
Pro Med designed a system around the importance of the Receptionist to allow:
- Speed and accuracy to provide the receptionist with a data capture system that allows the data to be immediately digitised into the RIS
- A feature that creates a unique ID for the patient , across all branches, which identifies the patient over and above the South African state ID which has in many cases proven to be unreliable.
- A more refined document scanning solution allowing batch scanning for multiple documents per patient to immediately be captured and linked to that unique patient ID.
- The receptionist to be multifunctional, especially in smaller practices where she can perform functions such as, scheduling, patient data capture, typing, billing and receipting from the same platform.
